CANCER patients at the Royal Bolton Hospital have received a boost to their environment.
CANtreat, a charity which works to improve the environment for people receiving chemotherapy, has donated a television and DVD player.
Hospital staff are delighted with the donation and say it has made a huge difference to the waiting area.
Kathy Sandler, the hospital's cancer services manager and clinical lead for cancer, said: "This has transformed the whole waiting area. We've changed the seating arrangements, so it's much more informal and relaxed.
"It's a much pleasanter experience for patients now and we're very grateful to CANtreat."
CANtreat decided to donate the money to the Churchill Unit at the hospital after the Bolton Wanderers supporters' group donated £500 to the charity.
Chris Eyres, of CANtreat, said: "This is a very worthwhile unit and it's made a big difference. The waiting area has become more of a community area rather than just somewhere people go to wait for their treatment."
l Muriel Wood is pictured enjoying the new television in the waiting area.
